Begining of My Practicum

This is about the first days in the practicum. I’m located in the Grand Metropark Hotel Kunshan, which is a high quality business hotel. Near the hotel there is many companies of car industry and there is a easy access to Shanghai Circuit. In the following weeks there is going to be a lot foreign guests in the hotel, because many people from the F1 management and staff are accommodating in the hotel.

On the first days I have been mainly reading the F.A.Q. of the front desk and getting familiar with the room service menu, since it may be that I’ll be taking phone orders of the English speaking guests.

The hotel management system used here is Opera and it is in English, but the comments in it and other systems adjacent with it are in Chinese. I already tried to do some check in and check outs, but it is hard since they were shown to me very quickly and I’m not able to use Chinese systems.

There isn’t much possibilities to practice checking in because when there has been English speaking guests arriving there always seems to be a lot of people arriving at the same time. It is not a right time to practice when there is a dozen people all wanting to check in at the same time and all exhausted after travelling and tired because of jet lag.
