Information Map

I’ve been working on a map of the nearby places. I’ve marked there places that the foreign guests often ask and also some places that are nice to visit. I’m also writing a little info text about the nearby places.

So far there is following information:

(Please note these are not all correct!)

Anting Life Hub

The shopping mall next to Anting metro station.

There you can find supermarket, restaurants and cafes, bowling hall, fashion stores and much more.

Supermarket RT-Market opening hours: 8:30-22:00 (These are not correct.)

Shopping Mall next to the Zhaofeng Road metro station

Smaller supermarket, restaurants

Xinyuan Road

A lot of local restaurants along the street.

Pharmacy

There is two pharmacies at the Asia Pacific Plaza 200 m south from the hotel. You can also find a pharmacy next to the RT-market in the shopping mall. There may not be English speaking staff in the pharmacies.

Family Mart

Small grocery shop at the Asia Pacific Plaza. Open 24/7.

Post Office on the Moyu Road

Walk north from the Anting metro station. The post office is on the right side of the Moyu Road just before Changji Road.

Opening hours: 8:30-16:30

Bars

L-Bar at the lobby of the hotel – Sports bar with pool table

Wirtshaus Music Bar - German and Austrian style, address: No. 4 Xinyuan road

Cinema

There is a movie theater on the third floor of Anting Life Hub (shopping mall next to Anting metro station). Foreign films are not dubbed in China, but they have Chinese subtitles.

Places to see

  • Anting Old Street, 15 mins walk from the hotel

  • Shanghai Automobile Museum and the park next to it, 2-2,5km from the hotel

  • Shanghai Circuit: Metro to there costs about 5Y.

  • - Tickets for the guided tour are sold from the desk near Costa Coffee. Guided tour costs 50 Y. The tour is only in Chinese, but you get to see many places that you can’t go alone.

  • Nanxian Water Town and the Guyi Garden of Nanxiang:

  • - An thousand-year-old ancient town in Shanghai; Famed for Nanxiang Steamed Meat Dumplings

  • - Metro line 11, from the station Nanxiang take a 20 minute walk along Huyi Gong Lu to reach Guyi Garden or you can carry on walking straight down Minzhu Jie and the garden is located on the left hand of the road.

I took the part about the Nanxiang Water Town from this webpage: https://www.topchinatravel.com/china-attractions/nanxiang-water-town.htm

There it says that it is 15 mins walk from the metro station to the Guyi Garden, but I wrote 20 mins because it’s always slower when you go for the first time. Then when I was there, those instructions didn’t make much sense to me, because those streets named at the webpage are not leaving directly from the metro station.

I think I’ll change the information about how to get there to “A taxi from hotel to Nanxiang Old Street costs 60-100Y” and I also have to add opening hours of the Guyi Garden, because it was closed when I visited there.
